To further strengthen the region’s agricultural industry, the Department of Agriculture’s Research Division will now start training potential organizations in processing agricultural products with the completion of the Organic Agriculture Research and Development Building located at the DA Regional office in Butuan City.
Funded by the DA- Bureau of Agricultural Research, the P2M worth facility will now serve as a venue for developing value-adding products that could be adopted by interested processors.
Farmers who want to avail of training may signify their interest through their Municipal Agriculture Offices. The training is for free. Some of the commodities that will be processed in the center are soybeans and Adlai.
DA-Caraga Research Chief Wilfreda Manos said that with the establishment of the processing center, more farmers will engage in value-adding activities from the different commodities produced in the field.
In time with the inauguration, the Research Division also launched the book “A Decade of Success: Compendium of Agriculture & Fisheries Research and Development Projects Supported by BAR.
The book aims to share activities and outputs of researchers for the past 10 years. It also aims to give recognition to researchers and LGU partners, farmers and other stakeholders who have been part of DA Research and Development activities. It can also aid to fast-track adoption and dissemination and possible replication of technologies. (DA Caraga-RAFID)
