Twenty-four (24) technical personnel from the different banner programs, special projects, and divisions of the Department of Agriculture – Caraga underwent a three-day training on Basic Photography and Social Media Management, organized by the Regional Agriculture and Fishery Information Section (RAFIS) from August 16 – 18, at JB Nature Farm, Surigao City.
The training aimed at harnessing the power of visual storytelling and digital platforms to amplify each participant’s program initiatives and activities.
Throughout the workshop, attendees delve into the art of photography, exploring techniques to capture compelling images and social media management that will help them navigate and leverage digital platforms for agricultural promotion.
RAFIS Chief Emmylou Presilda, in her lecture on Social Media Management, highlighted the significance of merging farming activities with modern communication strategies.
“Since we were given this task to amplify our agency’s initiatives and programs, mastering the art of storytelling in this digital age is pivotal for advancing our agricultural causes,” Presilda said.
Morel Salva, photographer/editor, and Alfredo Abrea Jr., PRDP Multimedia Assistant, also served as the resource speakers for the event, discussing basic photography and mobile photography.
The participants showcased their skills by documenting the organic farm of the JB Nature Farm. Euniel Atalo of the Regulatory Division gained the Best Photo award while Most Promising Photographer was bagged by Eufemio Comiling Jr. of the Research Division. Most Promising Social Media Manager award was snatched by Jhanica Curambao of the Organic Agriculture Program.
Other awards such as Most Creative Shot was awarded to Fernando Lupiagan of the Corn Program, Most Promising Digital Creator was bagged by Jonaly C. Jabagat of 4ks Program, and lastly, Most Loved & Shared Photo was snatched by May Amor Genon of the Planning and Monitoring Evaluation Division. (Kent Warren H.
