In a significant closing of the Farmers’ and Fisherfolk’s Month Celebration, RAFC – Caraga Chairperson and the concurrent Farmer Director Christopher H. Lindo, took the opportunity to present his noteworthy accomplishments.

The closing ceremony held at the DA-Caraga earlier today aimed to provide updates on the status of the region’s agriculture sector, including its priority agenda, relevant issues, and concerns, as well as the programs, activities, and projects developed to address these challenges.

During his speech, Farmer Director Lindo shared the milestones achieved under his leadership. He discussed some of the resolutions passed such as the establishment of Pesticide Analytical Laboratory (PAL) and the allocation of funds for the operationalization of the Regional Abaca Tissue Culture Laboratory.

Among the notable programs, activities, and projects initiated under his helm, includes the expansion of the Agrikultura ug Pangisda sa Parokya 2.0 in which a partnership agreement with New Generation Church in Villa Kanangga, Butuan City is underway.

The upgrade of the Kabataang Magsasaka at Mangingisda, which puts emphasis on youth engagement in agriculture, a partnership agreement is in progress with the Missionary of the Sacred Heart Congregation – Center for the Poor Agricultural Cooperative (MSC-CEPAGCO), Del Monte National High School, and La Paz National High School.

Moreover, the provision of livelihood opportunities which is the advancement of the Agri-Bayanihan Project is currently under validation with the Ansili Tribal Farmers Association of Sitio Ansili, Puting Bato, Cabadbaran City.

As Director Lindo concluded his highlights of accomplishment, he stressed the importance of collective efforts in unlocking the region’s agricultural potential.

“For an agriculture sector in the region to survive, we have to SWIM. S for soil sustainability or upgrading of our land management practices; W for water because all of these won’t succeed without proper irrigation; I for Integration to their farming methods and diversifying production; and, M for management between the public and private sector,” Dr. Lindo added.
