Kadiwa Center In Buenavista, AgNor, A Hub for Local Agribusiness
The local government of Buenavista, Agusan del Norte formally accepted the Agribusiness Kadiwa Center worth ₱5 million from the Department of Agriculture-Caraga on July 30, 2025.
The ceremonial turnover was led by DA-Caraga Regional Executive Director Arlan M. Mangelen, Buenavista Municipal Mayor Joselito T. Roble, along with local government officials and representatives from the DA-Agribusiness Marketing Assistance Division (AMAD).
The Buenas Agribusiness Kadiwa Center will serve as a central hub for agribusiness activities in Buenavista. It will serve all 25 barangays, giving farmers a place to showcase and directly sell their goods, including fresh vegetables, fruits, rice, and value-added agri-fishery products.
The center’s operations will be managed by the Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO), which holds full responsibility for overseeing and ensuring the sustainability of the project. As part of its function, the center will also serve as a consolidation point where agri-fishery products from farmers’ and fisherfolk cooperatives and associations will be procured at reasonable prices.
The modern facility, located at Felix Manalo Street in Barangay 2, includes a comfort room, an office, and a display area. The Local Government Unit of Buenavista targets to increase farmer’s income by 20%.
Municipal Mayor Joselito Roble expressed his deep gratitude to the Department of Agriculture for the project. According to him, the center will help bring food closer to the community and improve the livelihood of local farmers.
“This project is not just a facility, it serves as a gateway to many opportunities for local farmers and producers in Buenavista, where they can directly sell their harvests at the Kadiwa Center—cutting off traders and middlemen. We will truly take care of this,” said Mayor Roble.
Meanwhile, RED Mangelen praised the efforts of the local government unit in acquiring the facility, seeing it as a model for livelihood development and agricultural growth in the municipality.
“This achievement would not have been possible without your unity and determination. This shows that you want to scale up the status of life of our farmers and the agriculture sector in Buenavista. The Department of Agriculture will always be your partner in any plans you have for the development of agriculture,” RED Mangelen stated. (Lovely Joy L. Saludez/DA-Caraga, RAFIS)
